News: Reduced delivery from the Fyne Ales website!

by Iain Smith

It’s a big day for our little website – not only are Cold Brew Mills & Hills, First Day and Workbench IPA: Fourth Draft now available to buy, but you can now get them delivered to your door for just £5.

From this afternoon until the end of the year, we’re running a promotion on the website that means ordering cases, mini-casks and merch is significantly cheaper than it used to be. It’s something that we’ve wanted to do for a while, but navigating the tricky logistics that come with being a rural Scottish brewery has meant it’s taken a bit of work to make sure you get your beer promptly, and for a reasonable price.

So, what does this mean in real terms? For a fiver, we’ll deliver to you:

  1. Any single case of Fyne Ales bottles.
  2. Up to two Fyne Ales gift packs.
  3. Up to two Fyne Ales 5-litre mini-casks.
  4. As much merch as anyone could probably ever want to order.

What’s more, the new weight-based system means that you’ll be able to add items of merch including shirts, stickers and bottle openers to your beer order at no extra delivery cost.

The shipping rate for non-beer orders hasn’t changed, meaning you can order bits and pieces of branded Fyne Ales gear from the website with shipping starting from just £2.60.

Furthermore, we’ve kept it simple if you’re looking to order in volume– double the amount of beer, double the cost. This means two cases, four mini-casks or four gift packs will cost £10, which is the same as our previous base rate for shipping.

We’re excited to be trialling this over the festive period and hope that you’ll be tempted to treat the craft beer lover in your life to a few beers for Christmas – be sure to check out the new mixed cases and gift packs listed on the shop!

New Brew News: First Day

by Iain Smith

On the first day of beer-mas, Fyne Ales gives to you, a heap of Calypso hops with a touch of pear flavours in a session IPA. Introducing First Day, available in 330ml bottle from next week!

We’ve never big fans of Christmas beers – nutmeg, cinnamon and the other seasonal spices that creep into craft brews around this time are not for us, but we do like to brew something interesting for the winter months, which is why this year we’ve doubled up with Cold Brew Mills & Hills for the stout drinkers, and First Day, a super-light session IPA for those who need a bit of relief from the over-indulgences of the season.

When we brewed with Calypso hops earlier this year, we were blown away by the quality of the cones – huge, packed with flavour and an out-of-this world aroma – as soon as we opened the bags, the whole brewery was filled with pungent pear and melon aromas. It was lovely.

So, we kept back the rest of our stash and began planning a refreshing end-of-year brew using the hop, and decided to spotlight the hop's pear flavours with the addition of juice during the brew. The result is a super-sessionable IPA with low bitterness and high-notes of the soft fruit through the finish. It’s not a complex beer, but with all the turkey, stuffing, spuds and other rich foods and flavours the season encourages, something delightfully clean and simple might be just what you need.

Bottles will be available from the Fyne Ales website from Monday 20 November and all good bottle-shops soon after. Be sure to let us know what you think when you pick one up!
