Tasting Notes

A black ale with nose of roasted malt with a soft smokiness. Flavours are of smoked malt and dark fruits with a building subtle chilli heat.

What makes it special?

48 Miles Later is a collaboration between Fyne Ales and the Brewdog Glasgow Bar. The recipe was concocted over a few beers in the bar between our brewers and the Brewdog Glasgow staff, who later made the 48 mile trip to the brewery to brew the beer.

This black ale is given a twist with a bag of beech smoked malt added to the grist. Along with Centennial and Nelson Sauvin Hops we added fruity and mild dried Ancho Chillies to the boil. Once the beer passed to fermentation we added a load of Galaxy Hops and smoked chipotle chillies, rich in tobacco aromas with a subtle heat.

You can find out about the limited edition label we did for this beer in our blog post.
