Discovery Membership – Now Featuring Hurricane Jack & Avalanche!
Discovery members, we heard you loud and clear – Jarl is a great beer, but five litres a month every month, is maybe a little too much even for the hardcore Jarl lover. So, the first change we’re implementing, starting with September deliveries, is switching up the year-round modern classic beer we include with the new Discovery beer each month.
Going forward, we’ll be rotating through our three hop-forward pale beers each month – Jarl, Avalanche and Hurricane Jack – kicking off Avalanche in September deliveries alongside our Discovery special, Everyone Loves Cashmere. By now, you’re probably pretty familiar with Jarl, but for those who are yet to try Avalanche or Jack – here’s a heads up on what to expect:
Avalanche – 4.5% – Thirst-quenching pale ale with Liberty and Cascade hops. Bold, bracing and brimming with citrus notes and a grassy bittersweet finish.
Hurricane Jack – 4.4% – Blonde ale with character! An easy-going, fruit-forward golden beer with a light, biscuity backbone upon which layers of smooth fruit and floral flavours sail.
As before, we cannot customise boxes (all Discovery Members will get the same new beer and year-round beer each month) and nothing will change for All Jarl members – you’ll still get ten litres of our flagship ale every month, but for those who’re looking for a bit more variety, hopefully this will help.
10% Off All Online Shop Orders & Brewery Tap & Shop Purchases
This is a big one for those who can’t get enough Fyne Ales brews – we’re introducing 10% off for members on all purchases while they’re an active member of Mini-Cask Club. This means that if you want to top-up your beer cupboard, or if there’s a Discovery brew that you just can’t get enough of, you can order one from the website, or pop into the Brewery Shop and grab one and save 10%!
Furthermore, the 10% extends to food and drink while you’re visiting Glen Fyne, so should you find yourself up our way, or if you’re looking for somewhere special to visit, you’ve got even more reason to come and see us and enjoy a couple of pints in the beautiful surroundings of our Brewery Tap & Courtyard beer garden.
We’re putting the final touches to how the discount will be applied (both online and in the glen), but we’ll have both up and running before October membership renewals – stay tuned for further news on how to use your discount in the next couple of weeks.
New Membership Bonuses – gifts, prize draws and early access!
We want to up our game when it comes to free gifts and snacks with MCC deliveries, so going forward we’ll be including something extra in the box every other month (six times a year). It might be something tasty, it might be something useful, it might be something you can wear with pride, but we can promise you that it’ll be something cool and completely free to Mini-Cask Club members as a thank-you for being part of our club.
Another new perk for members – access to all new beers before anyone else! With the brewery getting back up to speed we’re brewing a few extra new beers each month and we want our loyal MCC members to get a chance to try them before anyone else. Members will get an email heads up about every new mini-cask, can or bottle we release on the online shop before the general public so they can be the first to try them – and don’t forget you’ll get 10% off too using your member code.
Members will also get access to an exclusive presale for FyneFest 2022 tickets when they go on sale later this year (and every year going forward), useful for those who want to join us in Glen Fyne for Scotland’s biggest party of the summer and want to secure their tickets before general release.
Finally, we’ll be including a wee tasting notes card with insights from our brewers for each month’s new Discovery beer from October and every active member will be entered into a prize draw each month, with one lucky person winning an extra case of beer!
Pricing, Delivery & All-Jarl Membership Notes
Membership Pricing
The last year or so has been a challenging time for a lot of businesses, including those who supply us with everything we need to make beer and those who produce the mini-cask vessels we put it in for Mini-Cask Club members; unfortunately that means the whole process is getting a bit more expensive for us.
Earlier this year we put up the price of mini-casks on our online shop to reflect our increased production costs, without changing the monthly Mini-Cask Club membership subscription fee, however with our prices continuing to go up, we’re now in a position that without a small increase in membership pricing, it wouldn’t make financial sense for us to continue the club. From 1st October, Mini-Cask Club will change to £45 per month including delivery.
We’re confident that Mini-Cask Club is still exceptional value at the new price – it’s still less than £2.60 per pint and it’s still a saving more than 15% vs ordering the same beers from the online shop each month, plus you’ll be receiving all the new member benefits we’re rolling out over the next few weeks. We hope you’ll agree that it’s never been a better time to be an MCC member.
Delivery Schedule Update
We’re also tweaking our delivery schedule slightly from October with the goal of giving us a little extra time to process, pick and pack renewal orders. WIth the brewery getting busier over the past few months, we’re asking for a little more time between your order going through and leaving the glen to make sure we get everything right to get your beer safely to you – keeping in mind we try to avoid shipping on Thursday and Fridays to avoid weekend delivery delays. For those who like to plan in advance, these are the dates for your diary for the next six deliveries, and we’ll share another update early next year with the following six months.

All Jarl Membership
Those of you who venture over to the Mini-Cask Club page of the Fyne Ales website might be surprised to find that we no longer offer two membership types for new sign-ups. From today, Discovery Membership (now named Club Membership) will be the only type we offer for new members, however we will continue All Jarl Membership for those currently signed-up.
When we started Mini-Cask Club, it was largely because we knew there were a lot of people who loved Jarl and couldn’t get proper pints of it while the pubs were closed – we never imagined that Discovery Membership would become by far the largest membership type with over 90% of members opting for the new beer combo each month, and with Discovery switching to include a different year-round beer each month, discontinuing All Jarl for new members should help simplify production and the picking and packing process.
