FyneFest 2025 – Vic’s Picks with Vic Galloway

Fynefest 2025 will be my 3rd year in a row at the festival… and there’s a reason for that. Put simply, it’s a bangin’ weekend!

With only a month to go, I’m looking forward to being host and MC on the ‘Mainstage’ and ‘Mixtape Lounge’ on Friday and Saturday, introducing the LIVE acts and DJ’s onstage, whipping the amassed hoards into a veritable frenzy, and encouraging dancing and daftness once again. As guest selector on the mainstage on Friday night, I’ll be dropping the ‘platters that matter’ in my DJ set too. Expect the dancefloor classics of indie, rock’n’roll, hip-hop, funk, soul, ska, rock & punk from the 1950’s to the present day – anything good basically, and all designed to get you ‘waving your hands in the air like you just don’t care’, or something similar…

I’ve dedicated my entire life to music – as a fan, musician, broadcaster and DJ – and I’ve been to a LOT of festivals in my time, from the 1980’s to now. Fynefest has its own thing going on entirely. Starting primarily as a beer festival of course, it has slowly added more music each year, being very careful with its curation and expanding programme. Fynefest caters for a friendly, affable, welcoming audience who want to hear something new and exciting side by side with a few classics. It isn’t elitist either – you can keep an open mind for a new favourite band, but also sing-along to some of your favourites, all with a rather tasty and refreshing beverage in your hand.

Music wise, in 2024 I enjoyed sets from Elephant Sessions, The Joy Hotel, Blue Rose Code, Karine Polwart, Honeyfeet and Dubinski amongst many others. In 2025 there’s an eclectic treasure trove of audio delights on offer too… I’d recommend Pictish Trail, Sacred Paws, Man of Moon, Kapil Seshasayee, Size Queen, DJ Andy Wake, The Katet, Talisk, Niki King, Hailey Beavis and those ever dependable party starters, The Banjo Lounge 4.

Want 5 MORE reasons to attend? Here goes…

· Beautiful location – Within the awesome surroundings of Glen Fyne, you can lavish yourself all weekend surrounded by hills, trees and rivers. The last 2 years, the weather has been perfect too. Let’s cross all digits and limbs for the same this year…

· Incredible beer – Do I really need to say it? But yes, the enormous bar of well over 70 taps in the main tent is breath-taking, alongside with cider and wine for those who prefer those. You can even grab yourself a margarita, if ya fancy. Thirst be gone!

· Delicious food – The food trucks and stalls at Fynefest are some of the very best I’ve seen at a UK festival. From venison to oysters to gourmet tacos and pitch-perfect pizzas, there is enough to keep you guessing and trying different flavours all weekend. And there’s good coffee too – essential for the mornings!

· Friendly folks – You want to relax and have fun at a festival, so having nice people around is a MUST! I have admired the diverse mix of people and the relaxed, unpretentious vibe over the last 2 years. Fynefest is a friendly and stress-free few days, with families and pals all intermingling and enjoying good drinks, chat and music in a very special place.

· Excellent stages and sound-systems – Those who book the music and put the bill together each year have a certain attention to detail, as they’re musicians too! So you get a great sound whichever stage you are at the event. Plus the staff and volunteers at the festival are not only friendly and chilled-out, but super professional.

Convinced yet? Fynefest 2025 – bring it on. See you at the bar or down the front…
