#FyneFest20 – Meet The Brewers Part One
Welcome to the first FyneFest blog of 2020 and the first in a series all about the breweries whose beer will be on the bar at FyneFest 2020 in June!
Every Friday we’ll introduce 5-10 UK breweries from this year’s list, explain a little why we want them on the bar and give you an idea of what to expect from them at the festival.
So, without further ado, here’s the first eight breweries joining us in the glen this summer!
TINY REBEL BREW CO
Our friends from Wales have been a regular fixture on the FyneFest bar for the past few years – their diverse offering makes them an easy pick for the brewery list, with everything from cask mild to super-fruited sours finding their way onto the main bar and into the glasses of thirsty FyneFest drinkers.
What to expect?
Bold flavours and fun.
NEW BARNS
When we say New Barns are new for 2020, we don’t just mean new to FyneFest – they’re a brand new brewery! While much about the Leith-based venture is shrouded in secrecy, knowing the team behind the beers means we had to get them signed up for this year’s festival.
What to expect?
The unexpected.
WYLAM BREWERY
From their incredibly beautiful base in Newcastle’s Palace of Arts Exhibition Park, Wylam Brewery have gone from strength to strength in recent years, partly attributable to their no-nonsense attitude when it comes to making quality beer. Expect to find their beers, including the indomitable Jakehead pouring on keg and cask.
What to expect?
Hop-forward beers, and cask Macchiato if we can get it (cause it’s great).
VIBRANT FOREST
We first poured Vibrant Forest at FyneFest in 2018 after their man Andrew reached out to us about being part of the festival, and after our team tried their beers, we were keen to get them on board! Their juicy pale ale, Pupa, is one of the first beers on the order list – a beautifully balanced, fruity session beer on cask or keg.
What to expect?
They’ve offered us a barrel-aged salted liquorice imperial stout and white-wine barrel-aged mixed ferm sour in the last couple of years, so who knows?
LOST & GROUNDED
The first of a handful of returning breweries for FyneFest 2020, Lost & Grounded are one of our favourite lager brewers in the UK – their Keller Pils becoming a go-to for our team. Beyond lagers, Annie and Alex’s team apply their precision approach to all their beers and we’re excited to see what they send us for FyneFest 2020.
What to expect?
At least a couple of kegs of the UK’s best lager.
ROOSTER’S
Also new for 2020, Rooster’s will join the FyneFest fun! Initial discussions to get Rooster’s on the bar at FyneFest started in Huddersfield in 2018 over a few pints and a highly competitive game of Rhino Hero, and we’re pleased we’re finally making it happen this year.
What to expect?
Hoppy cask, adventurous keg and maybe a cheeky Fyne Ales collab.
MILLS BREWING
The first brewery to feature on the Origins Brewing Bar at FyneFest 2020 is the returning Mills! Gen and Jonny’s artful beers have earned them a reputation as not only one of the UK’s best mixed fermentation breweries, but one of the UK’s best breweries full stop. Producing only small volumes of beer, we were lucky enough to get a limited number of bottles up from Gloucestershire for last year and will be doing the same again this year, so if you want to try one of the UK’s best, head to the Origins bar.
What to expect?
Elegant, complex low-intervention beers.
SIX°NORTH
Long-time friends SIX°NORTH return to FyneFest in 2020 with a selection of their modern, Belgian-inspired beers pouring on the main bar. Founder Robert and his team up north (Stonehaven) create a range of beers that put modern twists on traditional Belgian styles and flavour profiles – the epitome of modern classics.
What to expect?
Belgian-inspired goodness.
So that’s our first eight breweries for 2020! Come back next week when we’ll reveal another batch of breweries whose beer you can enjoy at FyneFest 2020!
