Welcome to the Fyne Ales blog—here you’ll find the latest insight into what’s going on with the Fyne Ales team in the brewery, on the farm or on the road.

Run for a Good Cause at FyneFest 2027!

Fancy stretching your legs between beers? The FyneFest Charity Run is back for 2027, bringing together festival-goers for a scenic 5km adventure through Glen Fyne, all in support of Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team.

Taking place on Saturday 5 June, the run is once again led by our friends at Edinburgh’s Good Time Running Club, who’ve been part of the event since the very beginning.

And don’t worry, this isn’t a race! There are no finish times to beat, no prizes and absolutely no pressure. Whether you’re a regular runner, a casual jogger or fancy taking things at a more leisurely pace, everyone’s welcome to get involved.

Starting at the Fyne Ales Brewery Tap, we’ll head along the glen towards the Walkers Bar, taking in some pretty spectacular scenery along the way.

The best bit? Everyone who takes part and makes a donation gets a beer on us at the Walkers Bar! Soft drinks are available for under-18s and anyone who’d prefer one.

Just remember, it’s 5km to the Walkers Bar, so you’ll need to make your own way back afterwards!

Four Years of Running for a Good Cause

What started as a fun addition to the festival has become a FyneFest tradition, bringing people together for a good cause.

Thanks to the generosity of our runners and supporters, we’ve raised £3,475 for Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team over the past four years, including more than £1,300 at FyneFest 2026 alone.

Every donation helps support the volunteers who work tirelessly to keep people safe in the mountains and remote areas surrounding our home in Argyll.

Meet Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team

Behind every mountain rescue is a dedicated group of volunteers, ready to respond when someone needs help.

Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team is made up of 30 volunteers, including local climbers, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts, who respond to emergencies across a vast area stretching from Helensburgh to the Bridge of Orchy and south along the Cowal Peninsula.

Their patch includes the famous Cobbler and Arrochar Alps, as well as Beinn Bhuidhe, a remote Munro commonly accessed from Glen Fyne itself.

In 2025 alone, the team responded to 33 incidents, recording around 980 operational hours. That’s hundreds of hours spent helping people in difficulty, often in challenging weather and terrain, alongside the time volunteers dedicate to training and preparation.

Where Your Donations Go

As a charity, Arrochar Mountain Rescue relies on public support to maintain the equipment, vehicles and resources needed to keep its volunteers ready for action.

The team is currently fundraising to replace ageing rescue vehicles, with a new vehicle expected to cost at least £55,000. Donations also help cover essential everyday expenses, from fuel and communications equipment to protective clothing and training.

To put that into perspective, a recent £5,000 donation allowed the team to equip eight volunteers with new Gore-Tex clothing, helping keep them protected when responding to emergencies in difficult conditions.

It’s a reminder that every contribution, big or small, can make a real difference.

As the team puts it:

“To everyone taking part in the run, thank you for choosing to support Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team. Your effort and fundraising mean a great deal to us and help our volunteers stay ready to help people in difficulty. Good luck, enjoy the run, and thank you for being part of it.”
