This is Deep Space Echo, our latest collaboration with Magic Rock Brewing, an 11.5% imperial stout aged in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels for over a year.

Those who joined us at FyneFest 2019, or visited Magic Rock’s Seshfest last summer, might remember an easy-going session IPA called Light Years that we collaborated on for both festivals – Deep Space Echo was brewed the very same day, but that’s where the similarities between the two beers ends.

Deep Space Echo is unashamedly intimidating; a black-hole monster of an imperial stout that packs intense espresso and molasses flavours before a huge shockwave of vanilla bourbon punches its way to the forefront for the finish of every sip. It’s dark, it’s powerful and it’ll keep you warm in even the deepest, darkest corners of the universe.

“When [Magic Rock Head Brewer] Stu and I got together to plan this beer, we knew we wanted something really big that could stand up to a long residency in the bourbon barrels,” explains Fyne Ales Head Brewer Malcolm Downie. “I think we’ve nailed it – it’s everything you could want from a big, barrel-aged imperial stout.”
