For September’s Mini-Cask Club Discovery members, we’re heading out west with a brand news West Coast pale ale – Pebble Beach!

This small-batch 4.8% pale features a fatal-four-way of heaving hitting American hops – Columbus, Simcoe, Warrior and Summit – combining to deliver the pithy citrus flavours and resinous, clean crispness so well-loved in the West Coast style. We’ve carefully balanced the bitterness for Pebble Beach – given we’ll be sending Mini-Cask Club members five litres of it, it’s got an easy drinkability that’ll leave you refreshed and coming back to fill your glass time and again.

“When you look at the alpha acid content of the four hops we’re using, you might think this is going to be a big, bitter beer – but we’ve made sure it’s plenty punchy, without being overpowering in the finish,” shared Fyne Ales head brewer, Malcolm Downie. “All four hops have citrus fruit flavour characters, to different degrees, so expect big waves of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon and orange, but there’s depth to it – Simcoe adding a little piney note, Warrior giving a peppery top note and columbus some floral, earthiness. It’s smelling amazing.”

In choosing the name Pebble Beach, we wanted something that acknowledges the birthplace of the West Coast style, but also gives a nod to the west-of-scotland origins of the brew, so while the Californians have been enjoying their golden sands and dipping their toes in the Pacific this summer, up in Argyll we’ve made do with the smooth stones and chilly waters of Loch Fyne’s shores.

Pebble Beach will be available first to Mini-Cask Club members, shipping to Discovery members from Monday Wednesday 2 September – giving them the exclusive first taste of this exciting new small-batch special.
