Mini-Cask Club – December 2021: Hoppy Holly Days & Avalanche!
With less than fifty days to go until Christmas, it’s about time we announce this year’s seasonal cask special and our Mini-Cask Club Discovery brew for December – say a big festive hello-ho-ho to Hoppy Holly Daze!
Holly Daze has been our annual seasonal special for a number of years now – a Christmas beer that avoids the trappings of festive fruit additions and mulling spices in favour of just a full-flavoured warming, amber brew designed for drinking in pints throughout the dark December evenings – and this year we’ve taken it even further with a new twist on our classic recipe.
Hoppy Holly Daze is a 4.7% American Amber Ale – we’ve significantly upped the hop content using some of our favourite US varieties for a more punchy take on the traditional version of the brew.
“I don’t think it’s a secret that we love big, bold hoppy flavours” shares Fyne Ales Head Brewer, Malcolm Downie. “With Holly Daze having been unchanged for nearly a decade we thought it was about time for a fresh take on the old favourite and I’m excited about this new interpretation – to those who’ve had it before, it’s a supercharged version of the beer you know and love and it’s definitely still not Christmassy.”
Pouring dusky amber, Hoppy Holly Daze features Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo, Chinook, Azacca and Columbus – a real bounty of fruity, West-Coast leaning hops that combine to offer zesty citrus and pine notes on top of a smooth, medium body with touch of caramel sweetness and a gentle toastiness.
Hoppy Holly Daze will be sent to Mini-Cask Club Discovery members first in the second week of December alongside a mini-cask of our year-round thirst-quenching pale ale, Avalanche! Mini-Cask Club members, along with ten-litres of cask beer each month receive:
