October – the month of Hallowe’en, the month of darknes, and now the month’s Mini-Cask Club’s first ever stout – reintroducing Clachan Dubh, a classic mellow stout that’s coming to MCC members next month!

The brewers’ next choice of returning recipe as part of our #FyneAles20 celebrations is from deep in the archive as we’ve rebrewed 2015’s Clachan Dubh, a classic 4% cask stout with complex malt bill for layers of roasty smooth flavours.

October truly felt like the right time to brew Mini-Cask Club’s first stout – the nights are getting darker, and so should the beers, right? And with us celebrating out 20th Anniversary, we had the opportunity to choose one of our favourite ever recipes to revisit this year.

“It’s great to be brewing a stout again, for the first time in a while,” shares Fyne Ales Head Brewer Malcolm Downie. “We’re definitely best known for our pale and hoppy beers but we’ve got some amazing dark ales in our back catalogue too and Clachan Dubh is up there with the best of them. It’s definitely worth of a slot in our #FyneAles20 walk down memory lane.”

Clachan Dubh features eight different malts to build layers of caramel and molasses flavours, there’s a wash of light fruitiness through the middle from a delicate handful of gently balanced hops, a before a wash of dark roastiness kicks in in the finish.

Clachan Dubh will be sent to Mini-Cask Club Discovery members first in the second week of October, and of course , our MCC membership changes kick off next month too! Mini-Cask Club members, along with ten-litres of cask beer each month recieve:
