Welcome to the Fyne Ales blog—here you’ll find the latest insight into what’s going on with the Fyne Ales team in the brewery, on the farm or on the road.

Mixtape IPA #8 – Playlist by Lucy

Our Mixtape IPA series is all about creating deliciously exciting hop combinations, and Volume 8 hits the brief perfectly with a blend of Simcoe, Lotus, Strata, and Sultana hops. This incredible hop combo creates a masterful composition of citrus, tropical, and pine notes that dance on the palate.

Now, it wouldn’t be a Mixtape release without a playlist – this time we’ve enlisted our newest recruit Lucy to share some of her favourite tunes. Lucy joined us recently when she relocated from Glasgow to Argyll.

You can check out the playlist and a little “get to know Lucy” blog below.

MIXTAPE IPA VOLUME 8 WITH LUCY BUTTON

The songs I’ve picked are the ones that I love to listen to on my new commute through the glens to the brewery (far superior to my old one along argyle street!). It’s a pretty diverse lineup, but each song strikes a chord with me, and reflects the ever-changing role at Fyne Ales!

Beach house – Wedding Bell

Beach house were the first band I ever saw at King Tuts and it was a totally magical gig. I was introduced to them as a music snob teenager and they have remained firmly in my Spotify rotation, although I’m less of a music snob these days. This spot was nearly taken by Taylor Swift.

Frightened Rabbit – Old Old Fashioned

I don’t think you can really cut about Scotland without having picked up a frightened rabbit listening habit. I was going to pick I Wish I Was Sober, but it seemed inappropriate for a brewery.

The Front Bottoms – Maps

The Front Bottoms are just utterly fun to listen to and see live – they’re mine and my boyfriend’s favourite band to listen to while we’re having a few beers and they’re equally enjoyable on your morning commute, too.

Paramore – This Is Why

Paramore were my ultimate favourite band during my emo phase and I still love them now – I think this is one of the best songs they’ve ever made.

Beyoncé – Welcome/Crazy In Love – Live at Coachella

I swear you will not find a better song to amp you up for a day than this recording from Beyoncé’s Coachella performance. You can hear the crowd, it has a whole marching band and WHISTLES.

Lucy – Sales Administrator (and all round legend)
