Origins Brewing – New Head of Origins

Last year we welcomed Dan Wye to the Fyne Ales family as our new Head of Origins (and Dan’s adorable sidekick – Jabba the Basset Hound, the unofficial mascot of Origins Brewing!)

With almost a decade of experience in the brewing and distilling realm, Dan brings a wealth of expertise and a genuine enthusiasm for exploring new flavors. Dan’s journey began with washing casks and crafting classic cask ales before diving into the innovative world of gin distillation, and eventually a move (for the better of course) back to beer.

Dan’s passion for crafting unique brews led him to immerse himself in the craft beer scene, where he perfected the art of hazy pales and delved deep into the realm of sours and mixed fermentation with a short stop at Wild Beer Co. Before joining us at Fyne Ales, Dan was instrumental in crafting extraordinary concoctions at Pastore Brewing, showcasing his talent in both fruity sours and intricate barrel-aged blends.

Dan’s love for mixed fermentation has only grown stronger over the years, and his relentless pursuit of inspiration at festivals like Carnivale Brettanomyces,  turning his home into a mini-laboratory, experimenting with his own mixed fermentation brews and even foraging for local ingredients.

Dan is also the creative mind behind the new look and feel of the Origins branding, mixing his own dyes to create the multitude of hues you can see on our new labels.

These 4 exciting beers will be launching on draught at our Taproom on Saturday March 9th, and available on the web shop and at our UK wide launch venues on March 21st.

Check out the list below to find out where you can try them on draught first!

  • – Fyne Ales Brewery Tap – Cairndow, Argyll
  • – Lost in Leith – Edinburgh
  • – Koelship Yard – Glasgow
  • – New Union – Kendal
  • – More to come in the following weeks….

Dan’s next batch of beers will be featured in the brand new Origins Bar at this year’s FyneFest at the end of May.

Be sure to follow Origins on social media to keep up to date with the latest releases.
