Introducing Meridian – our November Mini-Cask Club Discovery beer!

EDIT 28/10/2020: At the moment we’re working with a reduced team on-site due to Covid-19 and sometimes, that leads to small mistakes – this is one of those times. Due to a bit of a miscommunication between the brewers and the rest of the team, we’ve brewed our latest MCC beer a little stronger than we’d originally planned and so instead of Everyone Loves Meridian at the usual 3.8%, we’re tweaking the name to just ‘Meridian’ to go with it’s new 4.4% ABV. The beer is still tasting awesome and exactly how we wanted it, just a bit stronger than we announced in the blog below!

Following the amazingly popular Everyone Loves Strata in August, we’re revisiting the Everyone Loves series for a new Mini-Cask Club brew featuring a brand new American hop – Meridian.

Everyone Loves Meridian, a single-hop 3.8% session pale ale, is a showcase for a hop that isn’t often given the spotlight in UK brewing, which is part of the reason we chose it. The other reason is that the samples we sent blew us away with a beautiful aroma with layers of berries, citrus and tropical fruits.

Meridian, first made widely available in 2015, is known for being a ‘top note’ hop – adding a fruit-cocktail of flavours without overpowering the underlying base of a beer, which makes it perfect for our small session series.

“It’s our first time brewing with Meridian, so you might think it’s a bit of gamble using it in a single-hop beer, but from the samples we had, to the beers we tried from other breweries and the bags arriving in the Glen – everything is pointing towards this being a really excellent Everyone Loves brew,” explains Head Brewer Malcolm Downie. “Big flavour without being aggressive – perfect for a beer you can come back to pint after pint.”

Everyone Loves Meridian will be available first to Mini-Cask Club subscribers, shipping to Discovery members from Monday 2 November – giving them the exclusive first taste of this exciting new small-batch special.
