For our third Mini-Cask Club discovery beer of 2022, we’re taking a trip back to simpler times – back to the heady days of early 2020, and bringing back one of our most popular recent cask specials – Mixtape IPA #1.

For those of you who missed our first Mixtape IPA, it was brewed with big ambitions – the first in a new series of India Pale Ales brewed specifically for cask serve, our quest to create the ultimate hop-forward, stronger-than-typical modern beer for cask. Each version would feature a different tracklist of hops, coming together with the goal of creating a hazy, juicy IPA with balanced bitterness to ensure it’s the kind of pint that you can keep coming back to – sound good? It was.

Now, we didn’t get far in the series, what with lockdown and the closure of pubs, but we we loved the concept and wanted to eplore it further, so we’re relaunching it in 2022, right from the beginning with Mixtape IPA #1 once again! This 5.2% Mixtape will feature a tracklist of some our favourite hops – Cashmere, Ekuanot, Mosaic and El Dorado.

“The concept of trying to create the ultimate modern cask IPA is still something we want to explore, and with things starting to get back to normal in 2022, it felt like now was the right time to revisit the Mixtape IPA project,” explains Fyne Ales Head Brewer, Malcolm Downie. “The first Mixtape IPA, from back in 2020 became the basis for our incredibly popular Daydreamer, so I’ve got a really good feeling that folk are going to enjoy this rebrew – and all the future ones in the series too, of course.”

Paired up with our flagship, Champion Beer of Scotland, session ale Jarl, March is sure to be a treat for Mini-Cask Club members. They’ll be the first to try Mixtape IPA #1 in the second week of March alongside their  mini-cask of Jarl!
